What to Expect At Your Next Project Viva Visit

My child is... What to expect:
turning 8.
Shortly after your child turns 8, you will receive a brief questionnaire in the mail. Please fill out the forms and return them to us in the pre-paid envelope. There is no in-person visit at this age.
turning 7.
Around the time your child turns 7, a research assistant will call to talk to you about the Age 7 Visit. The in-person Age 7 Visit is similar to the Age 3 Visit. The major differences between the two visits are that at Age 7:
  • we will do less with Viva moms and more with Viva children; and,
  • we are introducing new wrinkles, for example collecting hair and urine samples, doing a DEXA scan for body composition, and doing a lung function test called spirometry.
This is an in-person visit that takes place, preferably, at HVMA Kenmore, or at your home. The visit takes approximately 3 hours.

If you live outside of New England and visit Boston we'd love for you to schedule a Project Viva visit when you're in town. If you cannot visit Boston we will ask you to participate by mail and telephone. Stay tuned for more information. We are currently in the planning stages for the age 7 in-person visit.
turning 6.
Shortly after your child turns 6, you will receive a brief questionnaire in the mail. Please fill out the forms and return them to us in the pre-paid envelope. There is no in-person visit at this age.
turning 5.
Shortly after your child turns 5, you will receive a brief questionnaire in the mail. Please fill out the forms and return them to us in the pre-paid envelope. There is no in-person visit at this age.
