The goal of this conference is to bring together researchers and practitioners from two distinct fields: early childhood/child development and pediatric obesity prevention to foster interdisciplinary research focused on the prevention of obesity among our youngest populations.

Objectives The objectives for the conference are as follows:

1. To assemble researchers and practitioners from two distinct fields of study: early childhood/child development and childhood obesity prevention.

2. To further scientific understanding of developmentally, physiologically, and culturally appropriate behavior change strategies for young children and their caregivers, child care providers, and educators.

3. To foster interdisciplinary relationships between researchers and practitioners in an effort to identify best practices for obesity prevention interventions for children from birth to five years of age.
