The Center for Child Health Care Studies is a multidisciplinary research group dedicated to improving the health of children through studies that enhance health care decision-making by families, clinicians, and policymakers.
The Center is located in the Department of Ambulatory Care and Prevention (DACP), a unique partnership between Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Harvard Medical School. It is the only such jointly chartered department in the United States.
The Center's association with Harvard Pilgrim Health Care offers special opportunities to conduct population-based studies of health care practices and health outcomes in large groups of patients and clinicians.
Center investigators are Harvard Medical School faculty appointed in the DACP, the Department of Pediatrics, or both.
The Center has close ties to Children's Hospital Boston, one of the nation's premier institutions in pediatric research and teaching. Center members also collaborate with Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates, a large multi-specialty provider group, in research on how to improve primary care for children. Center faculty lead an innovative fellowship training program in pediatric health services research, which contributes to a vibrant research environment.
The Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation contributes core funding for the Center. Harvard Pilgrim was the first New England health plan to have a non-profit foundation with the sole purpose of serving the community at large. The efforts of the foundation reflect Harvard Pilgrim's mission, which is to improve the health of its members and the health of society. |
